Refining the Customer Experience
AMPup enables publishers to customize key parts of the customer experience: the publisher landing page and optional emails sent by AMPup on the publisher’s behalf.
Landing page
During a subscription purchase, Microsoft Marketplace shows customers a Configure your account button. This button opens an AMPup landing page configured in Partner Center under the offer’s Technical Configuration. The page is fully customizable in AMPup.
Customizing your landing page
New AMPup users should customize the default landing page HTML so it matches the publisher’s site theme and user experience.
To customize your landing page in AMPup:
- Navigate to the appropriate Publisher.
- Select the Public Offers node.
- Expand the Technical Configuration section.
- Scroll down to the Landing Page section.
- Select the Edit button.
- Paste your landing page HTML.*
- Select Save.
* Cumulus26 recommends editing landing page HTML in a separate text editor. Save it as a local file so you can preview it in a browser and iterate quickly.
Landing page single-sign-on
Landing pages are protected by Microsoft SSO by default. Customers must sign in with their Microsoft account, typically the same account used to purchase the subscription.
Landing page SSO is required by Microsoft and should remain enabled unless it blocks a customer. For example, a customer’s organization may require administrator consent before allowing sign-in to unknown sites. If consent delays the purchase, you may temporarily disable SSO.
Disable SSO only in extreme cases and only temporarily. If you disable it for one customer, reenable it after the customer visits the landing page to stay compliant with Microsoft policy.
Customers do not need to visit the landing page for AMPup to create and activate the subscription. See the Managing subscriptions documentation for information about importing new subscriptions into AMPup.
Landing page design tips
- Include a clear message about what the customer should expect next in the purchase process. The default AMPup landing page includes suggested next-step language.
- You may include a form, but the publisher is responsible for the program that receives form submissions.
Customer emails
When subscription events occur, AMPup can send customers email notifications. These emails are customizable with HTML and can also be disabled.
Customizing customer email templates
To configure customer email templates, select the Publisher node and scroll to Customer Email Preferences. You can preview each email. To customize or disable a template, select Edit at the top of the page.
Customer email types
Each email template corresponds to a subscription event:
- Customer Subscription Notification Template: Sent when AMPup receives a new subscription from Microsoft Marketplace.
- Customer Activation Notification Template: Sent when the subscription status changes to Subscribed.
- Customer Cancellation Notification Template: Sent when the subscription status changes to Unsubscribed.
- Customer Plan Change Notification Template: Sent when the publisher changes a subscription plan.
Customer email tips
- If you use CSS in email templates, match the colors and theme elements used on your landing page.
- Customer emails come from AMPup, not your personal email address. Include a way for customers to contact you, such as an email address or a contact form on your website.
